Dances with Wolves (1990) VHS Box

When most film and TV on VHS cassettes came in transparent cases with a cardboard insert that wasn’t much bigger than the tape itself I would often go for the more unusual boxes and special limited editions, some “limited” editions were just a few copies or boxes with added “limited” extras, some limited editions were “limited” in a very loose way and this it the case with this box.

Special Widescreen Version + Limited Edition Colour Booklet

The Box

There’s nothing special about the box cover with only extra information about the Oscar wins, the three hours plus limited edition booklet

The measurements of the box are as follows:

  • 174 mm wide
  • 40 mm deep
  • 240 mm high

Again nothing special about the back cover just the usual information with a few still images from the film

Limited Edition Colour Booklet

The Limited Edition booklet is 14 pages not including the front and back cover and is a thick card.

Filled with pictures from the film and quotes from Kevin Costner, and quotes from the novel.

The booklet doesn’t go into too much details and the last 4 paged contains a bio of the cast and crew.

My Final Thoughts

This box is nothing special apart from the “limited” booklet again this isn’t anything special with little information about the making of the film, I have read this was an exclusive edition from W.H. Smiths and I have a vague memory of this but I don’t think I payed a lot for it.

Looking around on line I see this box this isn’t worth a lot and I don’t know why I still have it when a lot of my VHS collection got replaced, I have played this tape a few times and now I have the film on newer formats I will never play this tape again, self-confessed media hoarder

OUT OF MY COLD DEAD HANDS WILL I PART WITH THIS BOXSET
