Star Wars Superclass ISD: Executor VHS

Just a couple of years before DVD would be unleashed I would go to my local HMV shop to buy some CDs and maybe a VHS tape from upstairs, and that’s when sometime in 1995 I saw this large tin box, it was expensive at around £120 but I needed it in my small VHS collection.

The Ultimate Experience for Every Star Wars Fan!

The Tin box

This Executor boxset is a large heavy piece of kit, and as you can see my copy has a small dent in the lid and a few small marks around to box, but the inside is as new.

The measurements of the box are as follows:

  • 355mm wide
  • 255mm deep
  • 90mm high
  • weight 2.5Kg

The lid is embossed with the title and the Imperial logo and some design elements.

The front of the tin has the same embossed design element as the lid with the Imperial logo and a serial number that looks like a unique riveted plate, It would have been good if it was but sadly no it’s fake as all boxes have the same numbers.

The right side just has the same embossed design element as the lid, my copy has a small scratch at the hinge side and a few scuff marks along the silver trim.

The back has same embossed design element as the lid but no title and three simple hinges.

The left side just has the same embossed design element as the lid, my copy has a small scratch at the hinge side.

The bottom is just full black with the copyright info.

On opening the you are greeted with a thin plastic vacuum formed moulding inner cover.

The information card was stuck to the back of the box I think.

The Programme of Contents

A beautiful card sheet with shiny bronze coloured lettering and four shiny images of the tapes.

The contents of the four tapes, and as these are VHS tapes the “extras” play one after the other after the film.

I’ve not checked but I’m sure all the “extras” here are on the newer versions.

The back cover has a little embossed shiny C3PO and R2D2

Limited Edition of 20,000 Worldwide

The limited edition card is the same quality card with the same embossed shiny text as the programme of contents.

You could say I’m 12,738 of 20,000 copies of this boxset, or just this card.

The limited edition card opens up at the back to show Darth Vader.

The Complete Scripts, Special Exclusive Edition of the Three Film Scripts

Keeping with the same design elements with the rest of the boxset.

The complete continuity scrips presents the script from each film as it appeared in the “final” version of the film itself, unique to this book is the time code printed on each page for all three films.

As you can see from this page the timeline at 30 minutes

The complete Scripts book also contains lots of poster art.

The back cover of the complete scripts also follows the same design elements with the rest of the boxset.

My Final Thoughts

I love this boxset and I can say with all honesty I’ve only played the tapes once, I Do have an old VHS player but I wouldn’t dare play the tapes in it, VHS players haven’t been manufactured since 2016 and some are still for sale in the original box on eBay and such but I still don’t trust them, If some manufacture like Panasonic made a new model I’m sure I and a lot of others would snap it up.

OUT OF MY COLD DEAD HANDS WILL I PART WITH THIS BOXSET
